Before reading

Look at the cover together. What do you notice? What do you think the characters might discover?

During the story

1. What does the character know, and what are they only guessing?
2. Which clue changed your mind?
3. Who helped, and what did that person contribute?
4. What question would you ask before making a decision?

After reading

Draw or describe your favorite clue. Write one sentence about what it shows and one question it leaves unanswered.
