About this book
Three estranged siblings return to Bellwether, Mississippi, to bury the grandmother their town called Mother Ruth. Before the funeral is over, a storm breaks open the floor of New Promise Church and exposes the remains of Reverend Isaiah Boone, missing since 1978 and wrapped in the colors of the old choir. Ruth's coded Wolf Book appears to confess to seven burials. The truth is more dangerous: most of the men survived, but the women around Ruth had quietly ended their access to victims when law, church, and employers refused to act.
Camille Saint-Brooks trusts procedure because family secrecy once left her powerless. Darnell Saint prepares the dead with tenderness after a manufactured allegation drove him from home. Zora Saint believes exposure is justice until her own work harms the people whose history she wants to preserve. When developer Silas Greer is murdered and evidence is planted against Darnell, the siblings must separate an old act of desperate protection from a present crime built on land, debt, and reputation.
Saints Don't Stay Buried is a Southern family mystery about faith, institutional power, consent, buried evidence, and the cost of telling the truth without taking ownership of another person's pain.
